MATCH REPORT
CLEVEDON TOWN 1 - 3 WINDSOR & ETON
FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round | Saturday 21st October 2006
ROYALISTS MARCH ON IN TROPHY

Matt Seedel Another solid performance from Windsor & Eton saw them safely through to the next round of the FA Trophy as they beat Premier Division Clevedon Town 3-1.

Matt Seedel grabbed a goal in each half, either side of a Will Dunlop effort with Jack Pitcher netting for the home side.

Windsor Manager Simon Lane was forced into two changes from the side that Beat Chesham on Wednesday as Ricci Dolan was suffering from concussion and Michael Chennels had family commitments.

Replacing them were Terry O'Connor and new signing Andy Cook who joined from Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Clevedon got off to a good start and though they had taken an early lead when Leon Hapgood put the ball into the net only to spot the assistant referees flag had been raised.

Moments later Mitchell Page hit the post, but again this would have not counted as the assistants flag was up.

Windsor then got into their stride and started to make chances for themselves.

Their first real chance lead to them taking the lead. O'Connor's corner was flicked on by Dave Tilbury leaving Matt Seedel with an easy header from a couple of yards out.

Ben Porter continued his good form and came very close when he turned his marker and hit a shot that only just went over the bar.

Late into the half and another Windsor corner saw the lead doubled. James Edgerley sent the ball in which keeper Danny Greaves fumbled allowing Will Dunlop to nip in and head the ball in the net.

Clevedon came close to pulling one back on the stroke of half time when Jack Pitcher fired across goal when Windsor failed to deal with a free kick.

Into the second half and Clevedon got themselves back into the game when Hapgoods corner was headed in by Pitcher.

Dave Tilbury prevented the scores from going level when he cleared Rob Scott's header off the line following a free kick.

Seedel came close again for Windsor as did Scott but neither side seemed to be able to find a way through.

All that changed when yet another Windsor corner restored their two goal cushion. Edgerley was again the supplier with Seedel heading in at the far post.

Clevedon had chances towards the end with a goalmouth scramble and another tipped onto the post but couldn't make them count.
