ROYALISTS MAKE EARLY CUP EXIT

Windsor & Eton made an early exit from the FA Cup after losing 2-1 at home to Bashley.

Will Dunlop equalised for Windsor after Richard Gillespie had put the home side in front with Chris Knowles hitting an injury time winner.

Windsor had faced Bashley only two weeks prior in the season opener going down 5-3 after having Dave Tilbury sent off.

Tilbury was starting his suspension today and along with injuries to Ricci Dolan and Jon Case saw Terry O'Connor, James Edgerley and Will Dunlop brought in.

With a strong wind blowing down the Stag Meadow pitch, both sides found it hard to gain an early advantage.

Windsor, with the wind in their favour, had the first real opportunity mid-way through the half.

Dan Sacha played in Michael Chennels with just David Helm to beat only to see the keeper get the slightest touch on the ball to send it wide.

Bashley thought they had taken the lead just minutes later when Ryan Moss put the ball in only to have his celebration cut short after the referee pulled him up for a handball.

Into the second half and Bashley got off to a good start with Chris Knowles and Richard Gillespie both forcing Mark Davidson into good saves.

But Davidson could do nothing about Gillespies head on the hour mark that looped over the Windsor 'keeper.

A poor Chris Cahill header almost saw Gillespie grab a second had it not been for another good save.

Windsor managed to get back into the game when Will Dunlop managed to turn in Stuart Tanfield's corner.

Despite their hard work to get a result, Windsor were to be left to ponder what might have been as they were hit with an injury time killer blow.

Gillespie played in Steve Riley and his effort was saved by Davidson but the loose ball was stabbed in by Knowles.
