ROYALISTS FALL TO CHAMPIONS

Windsor & Eton's final home game of the season ended in defeat as they went down 1-0 to champions Braintree Town.

Alex Revell's first half strike was enough for the visitors in a typical end of season match.

With Windsor already relegated and Braitree having won the league both sides were just intent with playing the game out with neither side creating many chances.

Revell had an early opportunity when he sent Robbie Martin's cross just wide of the post.

Gavin Tomlin did the same moments later after stand-in Captain Will Dunlop had headed down Spencer Walsh's free kick

But with only 10 minutes on the clock Braintree got themselves in front.

Mark Jones' long ball was left by Dave Tilbury allowing Revell to lob an on rushing Kieron Drake.

Early in the second half Adam Wallace hit the side netting from a Jon Case cross as Windsor tried to get back into the match.

A triple substitution from Windsor manager Dave Carroll livend things up a little when Paul Holsgrove hit an effort just wide of the post.

Holsgrove then had a second effort blocked after Braintree failed to clear a Solomon Taiwo corner.

Desite the best efforts from both sides no one was able to add to the socreline in a relatively quiet match.
