WALLACE SHOOTS DOWN REBELS

There have been few times this season where Windsor & Eton Manager Dave Carroll can truly say that his team have played well and deserved to win, but today was one of them.

Second placed Worthing travelled to Stag Meadow looking for an easy win but went away with nothing losing 2-1.

Windsor got themselves on top early on in the match and felt hard done by not to have gone ahead in the opening couple of minutes.

Spencer Walsh's corner dipped under the cross bar and was knocked over the line and then away.

Windsor pushed to try and get themselves ahead and would have suceeded had it not been for former Windsor keeper Chuck Martini.

Jon Case got free down the right and his cross found new signing Emond Protain who headed goalwards forcind Martini into an acrobatic save.

Windsor's pressure finally paid off when Peter Holsgrove played in Adam Wallace who then turned Marc Cable before slotting past Martini.

The Worthing becnch protested about the goal saying that Wallace was offside but referee Tohler refused to listen.

One goal soon became two when Windsor were awarded a penalty for Cable climbing all over Lee Kersey. Wallace stepped up and cooly adde his second of the game.

Worthin showed signs of life at the start of the second half with Sam Francis getting space on the right and then shooting across goal with Andy Alexander just inches from getting to the ball.

Worthing managed to pull a goal back just after the hour mark when Richard Pacquette managed to lob Kieron Drake after the Windsor defence had been caught out by a quick Sam Rents free kick.

Wallace had the chance of a hat trick when he was put through by Protain only to see Martini gather up his shot.

Jon Case had be terrorising the Worthing left side all day and when he beat Rents and got in a cross it looked as if Paul Coyne had extended the lead but he sent the ball just the wrong side of the post.

A nervey finish saw Worthing come very close and a final corner for the visitors though they had the equaliser but the ball shaved the cross bar and went behind.

This was a great win for Windsor which goes to prove that their season isn't over just yet.
