ROYALISTS PAY THE PENALTY

Windsor & Eton suffered only their fourth defeat of the season after losing 3-2 away at leaders Yeading.

Peter and Paul Holsgrove had twice put Windsor ahead but goals from Marvin Morgan, Emond Protain and a last minute penalty from Dudley Campbell put Yeading top.

Chuck Martini Gave Away A
Last Minute Penalty

One thing that Windsor & Eton manager Dennis Greene expecting from this match was an easy ride, and that's just what he didn't get.

With Yeading at the top of the division and in the 2nd round of the FA Cup, it was never going to be easy.

The home side went straight at their visitors with nothing to show for numerous efforts except a half hearted penalty appeal when Paul Cook dispossessed Dudley Campbell.

Windsor did manage to take the lead midway through the half when a mistake by Michael Barima let in Peter Holsgrove who made easy work of slotting past Delroy Preddie.

Lewis Cook had a great chance to double the lead minutes later but was unable to keep his shot on target and shot over.

That was a mistake that would come back and haunt the Windsor winger just a minute later when Chuck Martini spilled Campbell's shot only for Marvin Morgan to tap in.

Windsor were back in front on the stroke of half time when they broke away after a poor Yeading corner and Morgaro Gomis played in Paul Holsgrove who, like his brother before him, made easy work of Preddie.

The second half saw the introduction of Justin Skinner who replaced the injured Paul Cook, but Skinners return would last only 8 minutes as he picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Symon James.

Yeading were again relentless in their search for a second equaliser and should have got it many times over.

Marvin Morgan's effort was saved by Martini and then the follow up from Davis Haule was blocked by Dave Carroll.

A goalmouth scramble which would see Yeading have no fewer than five attempts to get the ball in the net finally earned then a corner.

The ball was swung in and with Martini pinned back Emond Protain rose to head the sides level.

Windsor looked like they might just hold on after soaking up a lot of Yeading pressure and almost stealing a late goal of their own, but it wasn't to be.

With just a minute left Darti Brown ran into the Windsor area and Martini managed to block his run but when he tried to do the same to Campbell, the Yeading striker went to ground earning his side a penalty.

Campbell stepped up and converted the spot kick to send his side back to the top of the table.
