Windsor started off well enough, making Chelmsford work for their reduced possession, but were struggling to find the killer finish that had seen them make easy work of Basingstoke the week before.

Early long range efforts from Peter and Paul Holsgrove and Lewis Cook didn't really trouble Paul Nicholls.

Chelmsford were first to come closest to opening the scoring when Ross Parmenter forced Chuck Martini into a fine save to keep out his long range effort.

Windsor then stepped up a gear and took control of the game.

Peter Holsgrove got free down the left and crossed for brother Paul who lifted the ball over the bar.

Dave Carroll then had a shot saved after the entire Chelmsford defence missed Lewis Cook's cross.

Carroll then combined with Paul Holsgrove to set up Morgaro Gomis who's shot managed to clear the keeper and then the bar.

Paul Nicholl's blushes were then spared when he spilled Dave Tilbury's header and Garry Cross put behind for a corner.

Windsor finally made all the presure pay when they got themselves ahead just before half time.

Lewis Cook got the better of Liam Hopkins and put in a low cross which Peter Holsgrove flicked off his heel and past Nicholls.

Holsgrove could have got his second just a minute later when he was left with only Nicholls to beat but just couldn't find a way past the keeper.

Chelmsford were almost gifted an injury time leveler when Chuck Martini came out to collect Steve Butterworth's long ball only for Dave Tilbury to head the ball past his own keeper and luckily the post.

Windsor continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and when Peter Holsgrove was set free and found Dave Carroll, his cross was met by Lewis Cook who fired over.

Parmenter should have leveled when he was left with a free header from a Steve Butterworth cross.

The match descended into a midfield battle which saw Spencer Walsh pick up a yellow card.

Windsor held on through five minutes of injury time to get back to winning ways.
