HODGES HAT-TRICK SINKS ROYALISTS

If Windsor & Eton are to win the Ryman Division 1 (South) title they have it all to do after losing 4-1 at home to Slough Town.

A hat-trick from Ian Hodges and another from Tony Boot for Slough and a Dave Carroll penalty secured the points for the visitors in a match that saw four players sent off.

It was always going to be a feisty affair and that was proven with Dave Tilbury picking up the first booking after just 2 minutes.

From the resulting free kick Glen Harris had a shot which Chuck Martini spilt and Alex Haddow hit the side netting with his follow up.

Moments later Windsor had their first opportunity of the contest.

Lee Roache did well to ride the tackles as he wet through the Slough defenders and then rolled the ball to Craig O'Connor who shot wide.

O'Connor then had a second opportunity when Adedayo Ajoge flicked on a Dave Carroll free kick towards O'Connor, but the Windsor striker's header was easily saved.

Slough took the lead after a mistake from Windsor keeper Chuck Martini.

He had received the ball from his defence and took his time in clearing the ball. By the time he decided to clear it Hodges had closed him down and blocked the ball leaving an easy finish.

Slough should have increased their lead moments later whet a cross from Martin Moller found the head of Tony Boot which Martini saved and Hodges follow up hit the post before being cleared.

Veli Hakki and Spencer Walsh were the latest name to be added to the referee's note book just before Slough doubled their lead.

Haddow's throw-in found Boot who was able to cross allowing Hodges to head in.

The first few minutes of the second half saw more names taken by the referee, this time it was Craig O'Connor and Adedayo Ajoge.

These were soon followed by Slough's third goal. A clearance from the Slough defence was flicked on by Hodges allowing Boot to get past Ajoge and lob Martini.

Windsor tried to hit back almost immediately when Lee Roache slipped the ball into Craig O'Connor who rounded keeper Alan Foster but his shot was blocked by Martin Moller.

Windsor finally got he goal they deserved in the form of a Dave Carroll penalty.

Carroll's corner was headed goalward's by Dave Tilbury and then punched away by Josias Carbon for which he was sent off. Carroll stepped up and made no mistake with the spot kick.

Leon Townley was the latest name to be added into the book moments before a double sending off.

Tony Boot had swung an elbow at Kieran Gallagher, pushed him and then attempted to punch him. Gallagher took exception to this and retaliated, landing a punch of his own, splitting the Slough striker's lip.

The referee had no choice but to send both players off and minutes later added a fourth red card to the list by giving Adedayo Ajoge his second yellow card.

Slough had time to add a fourth when substitute Lee Riddell got free and slid the ball across to Hodges to complete his hat-trick.

There was even time for one more booking before the match was over when Darron Wilkinson was shown a yellow card in injury time.
