WINDSOR & Eton's championship push may have suffered a huge setback as manager Dennis Greene decided to put top-scorer Craig O'Connor on the transfer list.
This followed O'Connor's decision to go on holiday with his girlfriend, making him unavailable for tomorrow's game.
Craig O'Connor Maybe Set To Leave
Greene has fined the striker, who has scored 14 goals this season, two-weeks wages. O'Connor is contracted to the Ryman League Division One (South) club until the end of this campaign.
The manager said on Tuesday: "I got home at about 7.30pm on Saturday and there was a message from Craig.
"He said his girlfriend's dad had given them a holiday as a present and he would be back on Sunday.
"I said to him it would okay for him to go but he would have to get back on Friday, I didn't mind him missing training this week (on Tuesday and Thursday nights).
"He told me he was trying to get it changed but I've heard nothing, I cannot wait until Friday (today) to find out if he is coming back, I need three strikers for Saturday.
"As far as I am concerned I have to find another forward now and he is on the transfer list. I'll use the two weeks wages he's been fined to pay for someone else who comes in.
"I think it is terrible what he did. He is a contracted player to the club and if we lose on Saturday those points could be the difference between us winning and losing the league.
"He has let me down , his other players and all of the fans. This is serious football here and you just cannot take time off to miss a game in the middle of the season when things are getting so important.
"The daft thing is he was suspended last week so why didn't he go then? I am so frustrated, it was all going so well and now this has come along which was out of my control."
Greene has put in a seven-day approach for Enfield's Paul Armstrong.
"I honestly don't know what will happen (with O'Connor)," he added. "If we win on Saturday and I haven't got a new striker and have calmed down we may resolve this. I will not be hurrying to make a sale either. It will have to be a good offer if we are to get rid of him."
Last season Gravesend and Northfleet made a £5,000 bid for O'Connor, which was turned down by the club.
Observer Sport was unable to contact O'Connor.
