CARROLL FEASTS ON THE SARNIES

Dave Carroll gave manager Dennis Greene a great start to the festive month scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win away at Egham Town.

The Royalists midfielder pulled out another quality free kick to defeat the Sarnies at the Runnymede Stadium.

Windsor enjoyed the best of the early chances although neither side really seemed to assert their dominance on the game.

An free kick from Dave Carroll in the first five minutes dropped kindly for Keith Scott who then fired the ball over.

Carroll then struck another forcing James Mercer to parry the ball to Brahim Eloumani, who set up Dave Tilbury to cross but the ball was easily blocked and cleared.

Leon Townley had more time than he seemed to think when a Carroll corner landed at his feet and he hastily shot wide.

Kieran Gallagher will feel he should have done better when he side footed an effort straight into Mercer's arms after the Egham defence failed to clear another Carroll free kick.

Keith Scott was again denied when he tried to get on the end of a Jermaine Lowe ball only to be beaten at the last second by the keeper.

Chuck Martini had a relatively easy half but didn't disappoint when called upon.

Mark Xavier's quick free kick to Derek Payne allowed the Egham defender to cross the ball to Paul De Luca who's effort was well saved by the Windsor keeper.

The second half was more like the weather, cold and dull with the only highlight being the eventual winner from Carroll.

Keith Scott had been fouled about 10 yards from the edge of the Egham area. There was never any question as to who would take the resulting kick and he didn't disappoint.

As he has done numerous times before, Dave Carroll stepped up a struck a perfect free kick round the wall, past the keeper and into the net.

This win stretches their unbeaten run to ten in the league for Windsor but makes it only one win in eleven for Egham.
