ROYALISTS THROUGH IN TROPHY

Windsor & Eton advanced in what will be another successful FA Trophy campaign beating Chatham Town 2-1.

Craig O'Connor opened for Windsor with Steve Rutter leveling for Chatham before Leon Townley grabbed the winner.

Craig O'Connor Got His First Goal In Five Games

Having already slipped up in one cup competition this season, Dennis Greene wasn't about to sit back and watch them do it again.

Although it nearly happened as Chatham Town, of the Dr Marten's Eastern Division, carved out the better of the early chances.

Daniel Stanton set up Garry Tilley in the Windsor area and luckily Tilley shot wide.

Tilley then turned provider as his ball played over Jason Cousins was mis-controlled by the Windsor defender and then by Steve Rutter, going behind for a goal kick.

Chatham thought they had taken the lead when Andy Boyle's free kick was turned in by Daniel Stanton but the goal was disallowed for a foul on Chuck Martini.

Windsor had better luck at the other end with a goal out of nothing.

Windsor had been awarded a free kick on the half way line. Jason Cousins took the kick and caught the entire Chatham team napping allowing Craig O'Connor to nip in and get his first goal in five games.

The lead lasted only a few minutes as Chatham pulled level when Steve Rutter headed in a Ryan Robinson cross.

It wasn't long before Windsor regained the lead when Leon Townley headed a Dave Carroll cross onto the bar and then into he goal. The Chatham players claimed handball, and they may have had a good case.

Windsor had claims for a penalty in first half injury time when Dave Carroll was brought down as he tried to cross the ball.

Windsor came out and dominated the second half and it remains a mystery how they didn't extend their lead.

Dave Carroll shot wide after Kieran Gallagher had headed down a Chuck Martini free kick.

Gallagher then tied Steve Best in knots as he made space that forced Gavin Hopper into a great save.

Carroll had another long range effort turned round the post moments before Kieran Gallagher headed wide.

O'Connor came close to getting his second when he got on the end Dave Carroll's second attempt at a cross.

Even the Chatham players were trying to help as substitute Chris Cooke nearly put Kieran Gallagher's cross past his own keeper.

Hopper then did well to deny Craig O'Connor who had run the ball from the half way line, out pacing Cooke and Matt Driscoll before trying to go round hopper and losing the ball.

Junior Jones came on to replace Craig O'Connor and within a few seconds nearly got his first Windsor goal when he headed a Terry O'Connor cross wide.
