WINDSOR BEATEN AS KEEPER ATTACKED

Windsor & Eton signed off the season with another defeat as they went 6-2 down at Lewes.

A hat-trick from Tony Reid and goals from Danny Davis, Lee Newman and Jon Palmer secured the points for Lewes with Matty James and Kieren Adams scoring for Windsor.

Both teams battled hard during the opening 30 minutes, with Lewes looking to finish in 2nd place and Windsor playing to finish their season on a high after failing to win in their last 9 league games.

Spencer Walsh came closest for Windsor when he fired over with Tony Reid coming very close, twice, at the other end.

It was Lewes who took the advantage on 31 minutes when Graham Harper eased past Julian Renner-Thomas and crossed for Danny Davis who headed past Iain Gardiner.

Windsor fought back and could have got themselves level.

Dave Carroll came very close to making contact with Gordon Hill's cross and then Hill was close when his header went just wide.

Both Reid and Davis should have doubled their sides lead with five minutes of the half left.

Davis had managed to get through the Windsor defence and was denied by a fine Gardiner save and Reid's follow up went straight into the keepers arms.

Harper again turned provider as Lewes stretched their lead in first half injury time.

He managed to get round Renner-Thomas again and cross, this time finding Reid who, like Davis, headed past Gardiner.

The second half was no better for Windsor who could have conceded three in the opening ten minutes, but only conceded two.

It was three for Lewes when Danny Wright beat Jamie Furmage and crossed for Tony Reid to knock in.

Reid was through a minute later and should have done better than put the ball wide.

He did complete his hat-trick on 54 minutes when he pulled down Dave Tilbury on the edge of the Windsor area, continued his run and scored.

Both Tilbury and Dave Carroll remonstrated with the referee earning Carroll a yellow card.

Windsor tried to find a way back and came close with efforts from Rob Saunders and Craig O'Connor.

Leon Townley was also on hand to save them at the other end when he scooped the ball off the line after Gardiner had saved from Ryan McBride.

Windsor pulled one back with ten minute left. Miles Norman fed the ball across to Dave Carroll who then found Matty James who somehow looped the ball over the keeper and under the bar.

An altercation between Townley and McBride then saw the Lewes striker sent off and Tony Reid booked.

Lee Newman restored the four goal cushion which then prompted an attack on Iain Gardiner.

Gardiner Picked the ball out of the goal and Newman tried to get the ball off him and pushed him to the ground.

A spectator then jumped the perimeter fence proceeded to kick and punch the Windsor keeper before running off when Gardiner's team mates came over.

He was eventually shown the exit after running back into the crowd.

Windsor grabbed their second from the penalty spot in injury time. Matty James played in Kieren Adams who was then taken down by Russell Tanner.

Tanner was sent off and Adams slotted past Julian Curnow who had replaced Tanner in goal.

Lewes got their sixth even later in injury time when Windsor didn't clear a corner properly and Jon Palmer headed in.

Again, Gardiner picked the ball out of the net and was immediately set upon by Palmer and shoved to the ground.

The referee failed to do anything about the two players who should have had a talking to at least.
