ROSIER OFF AS ROYALISTS LOSE ANOTHER

It has now been 9 games since Windsor & Eton last avoided defeat after losing 2-0 at home to Leatherhead.

Goals from Phil Ruggles and Adam Gray secured the points for Leatherhead in a match which also saw Leigh Rosier sent off early on.

With Trevor Bunting out for the remainder of the season, reserve team keeper Iain Gardiner was called up to take his place.

It wasn't a great start for him as his goal kick on 13 minutes came back off Simon Elcombe allowing Phil Ruggles to run through and open the scoring.

Ruggles nearly made got a second a minute later when he shot just wide and then Craig O'Connor went straight up the other end and did exactly the same.

Things got a lot worse after 15 minutes when Wes Harrison got round Leigh Rosier and the Windsor defender was judged to have brought him down by referee Mr Scott.

What looked like just a hand on the lower back of the Leatherhead striker earnt Rosier a red card.

Danny Oliver hit the post with the resulting free kick with Ruggles being flagged offside with the follow up.

Windsor lacked chances in the first half and their only real chance came with ten minutes remaining.

Spencer Walsh swung in a free kick which first fell for Kieren Adams and then Craig O'Connor, both with very poor efforts.

The second half turned into a midfield battle which resulted in very few chances.

O'Connor should have done better with his effort after substitute Michael Murphy had picked him out superbly with his diagonal cross field pass.

The only other chance of the match fell to Leatherhead, and unlike their hosts they made it count.

Harrison managed to get through the Windsor defence but was denied when Gardiner blocked at Harrison's feet only for the ball to spill to Adam Gray for an easy finish.
