ROYALISTS IN FIFTH STRAIGHT DEFEAT

The seasons end can't come soon enough after another disappointing defeat, this time at home to Croydon Athletic.

Croydon, who until last week had been fighting against relegation, took the points thanks to a late James Evans goal.

Windsor were still without Dave Tilbury (suspension), Leon Townley (neck), Jamie Furmage (holiday) and long term absentee Matt Brady along with Shaun Dyke who had been released earlier in the week.

This left only two recognised defenders in the squad, the rest of the defence was made up of Rob Saunders and Gordon Hill.

The match started well for Windsor. Makeshift defender Rob Saunders sent the ball over the top for Kieren Adams who managed to stay on-side long enough to get the right side of the Croydon defence only to have his shot saved by Rob Frankland.

Ryan Parsons managed to get far enough forward to let off a good shot which seemed to be blocked by the arm of Dean Davenport, the first of Windsor's penalty appeals which was denied.

Trevor Bunting was on hand to keep Croydon out at the start of the second half with a couple of good saves.

First he denied James Evans when he got on the end of a Danny Stassinoss cross and then he did well to keep out John Fowlers effort.

The combination of Leigh Rosier and Ryan Parsons also hand a big hand in keeping Croydon at bay.

Rosier had a lot to do in the first half and the young defender made no mistake when under pressure.

Parsons came to life in the second half with two key challenges. First he managed to dispossess John Fowler after Byron Brown had put him through and then he blocked Duncan Alger's effort.

Croydon's winner came from Windsor's failure to clear the resulting corner from Parsons' block.

The initial corner had been put behind twice and the third was only cleared to the edge of the area and when the ball came back over, Bunting punched straight to Evans who shot past Bunting.

Windsor came close to equalising through Dave Carroll, who had gone close earlier.

Carroll struck a free kick from 25 yards out forcing Rob Frankland to pull off the save of the match and earn his side the win.

This is now five defeats in a row and the third successive game the Royalists have failed to score.
