ROYALISTS TAKE MOTORMEN TO A REPLAY

They may have been able to beat QPR in the FA Cup, but Vauxhall Motors couldn't see off Windsor & Eton.

Windsor took an early lead through Rob Saunders with Terry Fearns equalising for the visitors.

Windsor got off to a dream start and took advantage of the game in the opening couple of minutes.

Sean Dykes perfect ball over the Vauxhall defence allowed Rob Saunders to lift the ball over Steve Hilton and into the net.

Matt Haddrell could and maybe should have equalised a few minutes later when he got through after a Sean Dyke mistake, but blasted over.

Vauxhall did draw level mid-way through the first half when the Windsor defence stopped claiming Terry Fearns was off side. This allowed Fearns to run through and shoot past Trevor Bunting.

Vauxhall where lucky not to have conceded a penalty and been reduced to ten men on the half hour.

Whilst lining up for a Windsor corner Nicky Young punched Dave Tilbury to the floor, but the referee and linesman both decided to do nothing.

When the corner was finally taken Young decided he would do the same again, this time to Leon Townley. Again it went unpunished.

Kieren Adams was also on the receiving end of a Kevin Lynch elbow just before half time.

This was starting to prove that the theory that Windsor had rattled the Vauxhall team enough that the only way they were going to win was to take out the key players.

Then came the real drama. Just as the teams were coming out for the second half the floodlights went out delaying the restart by 40 minutes.

When the game finally restarted, Windsor continued their dominance and almost retook the lead.

A combination of passes between Matt Brady and Dave Carroll allowed Carroll to cross for Rob Saunders who shot just wide.

Brady then set up Saunders to cross which Craig O'Connor headed against the post and Sean Dyke was unable to turn the round goalwards.

O'Connor the set Brady on his way and his cross was headed goalwards by Kieren Adams and well saved by Hilton.

Gordon Hill was brought on with little over ten minutes left to try and bring his usual lift to the side, but this time it was not to be.

The replay has been scheduled for Tuesday 11th February.
