TOWNLEY STRIKE RESCUES POINTS FOR WINDSOR

Leon Townley spared Windsor's blushes when his second half strike secured the points in a 2-1 win away at Banstead Athletic.

Banstead had gone ahead in the first half through Ben Shannon with Craig O'Connor equalising and Leon Townley getting the winner in the second half.

Banstead started the stronger and this proved to count against them as Barry Langford and Ben Shannon were put into the referee's book early for rash challenges.

There pressure did pay off though when Aaron Smith's free kick wasn't dealt with and Shannon touched the ball over the line.

Windsor could have been level a few minutes later. On form Gordon Hill was clear of the Banstead defence and blazed his effort wide.

Banstead should have gone in at half time with a two goal advantage. Shannon was in acres of space when he received the ball and his cross was headed into the side netting by Simon Mitchell.

It didn't take Windsor long to level the score after the break.

Dave Carroll powered his way through the right side of the Banstead defence before putting in an inch perfect cross for Craig O'Connor to head in.

Windsor put themselves ahead midway through the half. Carroll's quick corner to Sean Dyke allowed Dyke to knock the ball low across the area which Leon Townley shot past Tommy Dunn.

The final twist came in injury time when substitute Marcel Dennis brought down Dyke prompting Barry Langford into an outburst at the referee earning himself a red card.
