WHEN BLUE TURNS RED

With two goals in two appearances, Wycombe Wanderers’ legend Dave Carroll is now working his magic at Stag Meadow.
He was signed on by former Chairboys team-mate Dennis Greene after leaving the club he had served for 14 seasons in April.
Carroll...Working Magic
The two played together between 1991 and 1993, the years when Wycombe dominated the Conference before going on to the Football League.
Greene had already brought another ex-Wycombe player to Windsor in the shape of Matt Brady so it is not surprising that Carroll has slotted in so quickly.
In an increasingly mercenary age, Carroll is the epitome of loyalty – his 602 appearances making him Wycombe’s third longest standing player behind John Maskell (616) and Tony Horseman (749).
Though injury dogged his latter years at Adams Park, players of Carroll’s undoubted skill will always have something to offer.
The scorer of 100 goals for the Chairboys, he has proved already that he can still produce crucial goals and swing games with his inspiration in midfield.
The highlights of his career after he signed on for Wycombe for £5,000 from Ruislip included two FA Trophy victories at Wembley and an epic FA Cup semi-final tie against Liverpool at Anfield – and that was just 18 months ago.
Carroll’s second goal in the 4-2 win against preston North End in the 1994 play-off final at Wembley will rank as one of the finest ever seen at the home of football.
