Mudge Outlines Plans For Season

New Windsor & Eton manager Dave Mudge has outlined his plans for the coming season.

From league aspirations to new line ups there are many things changing at the club.

"Can I first thank Chairman Peter Simpson for the chance to manage such a great club" said Mudge.

He continued "Obviously after such a successful season last year and the resulting promotion this season will bring the club new challenges during the forthcoming term."

The subject of the budget has recently been a big issue at the club and Mudge believes he has this covered.

"Having spoken at length with the board of directors we will be required to operate within a tight fiscal package, although this is for the long term future of the club."

He went on to say "Our first aim is to survive in the Southern League Premier and then to push on as high as we can in the division."

"I am sure there will be highs and lows with some surprises along the way but with such great supporters the club can achieve new heights."

With regard to last season's squad he said "I am hoping the majority will commit this time round. I have spoken to several players and the response has been encouraging so far."

The coming season also sees the return of the youth team who will be returning to the Allied Counties League.

The club will continue to run its Capital League side and this, along with the youth team will be run by Mick Woodham.

Mick joins the club after successfully running both the youth and Capital League sides at Burnham for the last 2 seasons.

With Woodham taking over these sides Graham Malcolm has been moved to 1st team coach to work alongside Mudge and assistant Byron Walton.

Mudge said of Malcolm "Having watched Graham gain his UEFA A License and the way he exceled in the development of the youngsters last season he deserves the chance to coach at a higher level and I wish him success."

On the subject of his assistant he said of Walton "What can I say of someone I have known from my own playing days and a great foil for me, I look forward to working with him again."

The club are also setting up an affiliation with New Windsor FC who currently run almost 30 teams through all age groups in youth football.

Their under 16's side will next season turn out in Windsor & Eton FC colours and play in the North East Hants League.
