| CHENNELLS DOUBLE BRINGS TITLE NEARER |
Michael Chennells moved Windsor & Eton a step closer to the Zamaretto League Division One South & West title with both goals in a 2-0 win at home against Abingdon United.Having played three times in the past seven days Windsor Manager Keith Scott made a couple of changes to his side bringing in Dave Pearce and Jake Parsons with Joe Chandiram moving to the bench and Scott Thomas out injured. Windsor made a promising start to the match with Pearce finding Chennells twice early on with the first effort cleared by Luke Carnell and the second a shot across goal that ended wide of the post. Marcus Richardson then brought down Jake Parsons cross for Chennells who was again unlucky to see his effort on goal blocked. As the first half drew to a close Chennells raced through and with only Mathew Hutton to beat fired over the bar. The second half started with changes on both sides but no change in the direction of traffic on the pitch. Chennells was again denied by bodies on the line when he reacted quickest when Steve Butler flicked on Jake Parsons corner. Into the final stages of the contest and Windsor finally got the goal they deserved when Jake Parsons fired in a low cross from the right and Chennells was on hand to steer the ball in. Just a minute later and the lead was doubled when Bruce Wilson put Chennells through again and he was able to lift the ball over Hutton and into the net. Into injury time and Chennells should have completed a hat-trick when Wilson put him through again but this time Hutton was quick enough to get to the ball first. |
