| DEFEAT DENTS TITLE HOPES |
Windsor & Etons now need to win all remaining 5 games if they are to be guarenteed the Zamaretto League Division On South & West title after they were beaten 2-0 away Bishops Cleeve.Windsor started by far the stringer of the two sides and should have been ahead in the opening minutes but chances for Joe Chandiram, Michael Chennells and Nathan Jack all either went wide or straight at the keeper. Windsor best chance of the half came after 15 minutes when Ryan Parson's cross found the head of Chennells only for Thomas King to turn the ball onto the post. The Royalists would come to regret these missed chances and on 28 minutes they found themsleves behind when Timothy Haddock got his head on Alexander Sykes' free kick to beat James Courtnage. Windsor should have equalised in the closing moments of the half when first Chennells had a header well saved from a Scott Thomas corner closely followed by Jack just missing the ball from a Bruce Wilson cross. A lapes of concentration at the start of the second half saw Cleeve double their lead when Windsor failed to get the ball cleared allowing James Vercesi to turn and shoot through a crowd of players past Courtnage. Windsor pushed forward looking to get back into the match and came very close when Martin Williams got on the end of Andrew Fagan's long throw only for the ball to be tipped away. A reply from Windsor never materialised despite the pressure put on the Cleeve defence which now means they need to win their remaining games to guarentee the league title. |
