|
| ADVANTAGE WINDSOR |
The outcome of the Zamarretto League Division One South & West titke is now firmly in the hands of Windsor & Eton following a 0-0 draw at table toppers AFC Totton. This result now leaves The Royalists 2 points behind leaders Totton but with two games in hand. The match started well for Windsor as they applied early pressure but it was the home side with the first real chance. Michael Gosney's free kick forced James Courtnage into a fine save to tip the ball over the bar. At the other end Michael Chennells almost managed to get onto Scott Thomas' through ball but Gareth Barfoot was just able to beat Chennells to the ball. Brett Williams then managed to run through for Totton but his effort never really threatened Courtnage as the ball ran wide of the post. Former Totton striker Nathan Jack then sent an effort across goal before Gosney forced another fine save out of Courtnage from a free kick. The second half again started well for Windsor with Bruce Wilson finding Jack at the far post only for him to send the ball wide of the post. Chennells then did very well to hold off Jono Richardson before mis-hitting his shot and Thomas' follow up effort was blocked. Courtnage pulled off yet another fine save when Jono Richardson's free kick was headed out to Nathan Campbell who volleyed an effort from the edge of the box. Windsor were then forced into a change bringing on Matt Seedel when Jake Parsons was stretchered off after turning awkwardly. Seedel himself was then stretchered off in the dying moments of the match when Campbell fell on him when they both went up for a header resulting in a broken leg for the Windsor midfielder. Windsor could have taken the points in injury time when Marcus Richardson battled his way down the right but elected to go himself instead of picking out Chennells. |
