| ROYALISTS SUFFER LATE LEVELLER |
An injury time leveller cost Windsor & Eton two points and due to AFC Totton's defeat and Paulton Rovers win the lead at the top of the Zamaretto League Division 1 South & West now stands at 14 points.Windsor started brightly enough and exerted early pressure on their guests but were unable to make it count. Mangotsfield also showed that they were not going to be any pushovers and a flurry of half chances and weak efforts should have progressed into more. As the first half reached its midway point Windsor suddenly broke into life. Scott Thomas slotted the ball down the left for Dave Pearce to pick out Michael Chennells who headed wide. Thomas then set up Chennells himself but the strikers effort was well saved by Sam Alexander. Chennells did well to beat a defender and cross from Gavin Smith but his effort went wide of the post, and then set up Pearce whose shot was well saved. Jake Parsons burst down the right but when he cut into the area his shot was pushed away by Alexander. Mangotsfield started to press as the half drew to a close and two perfect balls from Neil Arndale first allowed Dan Spill to head wide and then Harley Purnell to force Rob Bullivant into a fine save. The second half started well for Windsor and just on the hour they Finally took the lead. Thomas picked the ball up 25 yards out from goal and unleashed an effort that flew straight into the top corner. Chennells should have made it 2-0 just moments later when he headed over from close range. Chennells then had an effort saved when he got on the end of Bruce Wilson's cross before a goal mouth scramble ensued following a Jake Parsons corner. Just as it looked as if Windsor had held on to earn another three points a poor clearance from Ryan Parsons allowed Josh Brigham to lift the ball over Bullivant to share the points. |
