Windsor & Eton 1 - 0 AFC Hayes
Zamaretto Div 1 South & West | Saturday 30th January 2010
SEEDEL OFF BUT RUN CONTINUES
Michael Chennells The gap at the top of the Zamaretto League Division 1 South & West now stands at 14 points following Windsor & Eton’s 1-0 win against AFC Hayes.

Despite early possession for the home side it was Hayes that had the first chance of the match.

Tom Lees was allowed to cross when Windsor failed to clear a corner allowing Jake Lovell to rise unchallenged an head wide of the post.

Windsor then went straight up the other end of the pitch where Scott Thomas got into the area and his shot took a deflection and rolled just wide of the post.

Andrew Fagan then played the ball across the Hayes goal where Nathan Jack was just beaten to the ball by Mark Blackburne.

Thomas again came close when he was put in by a Ryan Parsons cross field pass only for his effort to saved by Aaron Bufton.

As the half drew to a close Nathan Jack ran through but his effort was blocked closely followed by a couple of headers for Marcus Richardson.

The second half saw no let up in the pressure from Windsor and just after the restart Windsor won a penalty.

Bruce Wilson’s free kick was brought down by Richardson and as he turned he was brought down by Vince Rispoli.

Matt Seedel stepped up to take the spot kick but his effort was saved by Bufton.

Wilson then hit an effort from the edge of the area which was well saved followed by Jack hitting an effort across the goal.

Craig Tompkins looked to give the visitors a shock lead but his shot from the corner of the box was well saved by Rob Bullivant.

Windsor continued to push forward and when Thomas’s free kick was flick on by Steve Butler to an unmarked Jack whose effort was again well saved by Bufton.

Thomas was again in the thick of the action when he broke through the defence and found Michael Chennells but his shot was again saved by Bufton.

Windsor eventually got the breakthrough in the closing minutes when Thomas picked out Chennells on the corner of the area and he cut into the area and shot across Bufton with the ball clipping the far post before entering the net.

That wasn't the end of the drama as Matt Seedel was sent off for an elbow on Rispoli in injury time and Lovell should have joined him for kicking out at Ryan Wharton but he escaped with a caution.
