Windsor & Eton 5 - 1 Hungerford Town
Zamaretto Div 1 South & West | Saturday 16th January 2010
PLAYERS REPAY SUPPORTERS HARD WORK
Marcus Richardson bagged two Windsor & Eton players repaid their supporters for all the hard work they put in to get them match on by beating Hungerford Town 5-1 at Stag Meadow.

A small band of supporters spent 5 hours before the game forking the pitch in order to get the game played.

It wasn't long before Windsor got themselves on top but failed to find the target.

Joe Chandiram's ball over the visiting defence found Nathan Jack and his effort was well saved by Dominic Green.

Jake Parsons then set up Michael Chennells who headed over and then shot wide from Bruce Wilson's through ball.

Jake Parsons continued delivery then saw Jack put the ball wide and then Andrew Fagan have a header cleared off the line by Bradley Clark.

Jack then burst through only for his shot to be blocked by Mark McMeeking with the ball then dropping for Jake Parsons whose volley then struck the post.

Hungerford showed few glimpses of breaking down the home defence with their best chance of the half falling to James Lewis who shot straight at Rob Bullivant.

Windsor finally took the lead they had deserved on the stroke of halftime when Matt Seedel's shot was blocked and the ball fell kindly for Jack who rifled the ball past Green.

They continued to dominate into the second half with Jake Parsons going on a solo run the ended with a shot that Green fumbled round the post.

Parsons then found Chennells who managed to turn in the area before hitting a shot off the post.

A couple of changes for Hungerford suddenly brought them back into the match when Alex Green headed in McMeeking's long ball, the first goal that Windsor have conceded in over 700 minutes of football.

The scores weren't level for long as Windsor were soon back in front when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area. Jake Parsons floated the ball in and Andrew Fagan headed the ball past Green.

Green then showed his frustration towards the assistant referee who had signalled the free kick by kicking the ball at him but escaped any sort of punishment.

Green then denied Fagan with a fine save when the Windsor defender got on the end of another Parsons cross.

Chennells should have added a third when Marcus Richardson's flick on from Bullivant's long ball put the Windsor striker through only for Green to save.

Chennells did manage a third moments later when headed in Dave Pearce's cross with Green believing he had kept the ball out of the goal.

The assistant referee signalled that the ball had crossed the line and again Green vented his anger by kicking the ball at the assistant, this time picking up a yellow card.

If that hadn't already secured the points for Windsor then Richardson's double soon did.

First he headed in a Pearce corner closely followed by a fortuitous mistake allowing him a free run a Green who he duly beat.
