| NEW YEAR STARTS WITH A BANG |
2010 started as 2009 ended with Windsor & Eton adding another victory and clean sheet to their tally opening the gap even further at the top of the table.Just 5 minutes into the first game of the new year and Jake Parsons fired Windsor ahead. Parsons picked the ball up just inside the Uxbridge half and was given a free run to the corner of the box where he blasted the ball past Michael Watkins before he could even move. Uxbridge had a good call for a penalty when the ball struck Matt Seedel on the arm but no penalty was awarded. Chris Gell then found himself going into the referee's book for a challenge on Ryan Wharton and a minute later should have been taking an early shower when he up-ended Seedel. Windsor's lead was doubled in the later stages of the half when Seedel picked out Jake Parsons and his cross found the head of Michael Chennells who beat Watkins to the ball. A third followed soon after when Jake Parsons free kick was headed down by Gavin Smith and stabbed in by Steve Butler. Chennells could have added a fourth just after half time when he was quickest to react when Uxbridge failed to clear a corner but the Windsor striker only managed to clear the bar. He did better on the hour when Seedel's ball into the area found Chennells and he was able to beat Watkins at the second attempt. Uxbridge tried to mount a fight back but a string of half chances was the best they could muster. Gavin Smith added a fifth for Windsor mid-way through the half when Seedel's cheeky back heel found Jake Parsons who crossed allowing Smith to head past Watkins. Windsor should have added more before the final whistle with Scott Thomas forcing a good save from Watkins and Smith missing an easy chance from a Ryan Parsons cross. |
