OSOBU MAKES MALTESE CROSS

VICTOR Osobu is going to ply his trade in the Maltese first division in a blow to Windsor & Eton's title hopes.

Before the hitman joined the Royalists he signed a pre-contract agreement with Mosta FC in Malta which starts on January 1 but in his brief spell since arriving from Beaconsfield SYCOB, Osobu netted eight times in 11 starts.

"He's going to go to Malta," confirmed manager Keith Scott. "Prior to me getting him I knew there was a chance he could be playing in Malta. He told me that.

"He signed a pre-contract agreement that kicks in from the 1st January. Victor is contracted to Mosta FC in Malta and will be flying out on Monday.

"He is going to play for the rest of their season which is for the next four months and at the end of April there is an option to extend it for two years."

Scott added: "It's a blow for us but I knew the situation anyway, what I wasn't 100 per cent sure about was whether he had actually signed the contract but he is obliged to honour that now and played his last game on Boxing Day.

"He went out to Malta whilst he was a Beaconsfield player and they liked him. I've spoken to their manager and he was kind enough to let him play in England until January, he has been very good about everything."

The Windsor boss is already on the hunt for a replacement and was due to speak to one today as the Observer went to print.

"What I did do was with the possibility of losing Victor was put something in place a week to 10 days ago and I will be speaking to the player this (Wednesday) afternoon to have dicussions.

"If an agreement can be reached, great, but if not we will look elsewhere."
