Windsor & Eton go to Hungerford on Tuesday evening looking to regain pole position in the Zamaretto League Division One South & West after AFC Totton’s superior goal difference knocked them off top spot over the weekend.

Victor Osobu’s fifth and sixth goals of the season secured a 2-0 away victory against Abingdon United. However, Totton put five past second from bottom AFC Hayes, including a James Taylor hat trick, to progress into top spot by two goals.

Windsor host Totton next Saturday, December 5th.

Keith Scott’s side can go three points clear on Tuesday with a win against Hungerford Town in a game where incident can be virtually guaranteed as the past four meetings between the two sides have yielded 15 goals. The last time the clubs met was in the Ryman League in January 2001. The, ‘Crusaders’ won 3-2 that day but Windsor had won the three previous meetings, (2-1 twice and 3-1), all in the league.

On the pitch, Alan Clarke’s side have won eight and lost five of their 13 league games with no draws and sit comfortably in mid table. Over the weekend, a Steve Cook strike midway through the second half was enough to pick up maximum points on their travels against Uxbridge. The performance was described as, ‘solid and unspectacular’ by the club’s official website.

Off the pitch, there is never a dull moment at Bulpitt Lane. Since 2000, the club has had two Chairman and nine managers. The club were relegated into the newly reformed Isthmian Division Two at the end of the 2001-2002 season for failing to meet the deadline with regards to ground improvements.

Before the start of the 2003-2004 season, they decided to rejoin the Hellenic League for the, ‘long term benefits of the club’.

At the start of last season, local businessman Nigel Warrick was elected chairman replacing Andrew Fitton who had left the club to form a consortium to take over Swindon Town. The club went on a 22 match unbeaten run and clinched the Hellenic League Championship on goal difference on the final day of the season.

The, ‘Royalists’ will take confidence from the fact that Clarke’s team have already lost to league highflyers AFC Totton, Cirencester Town and VT FC this season and will be desperate for three points heading into the top of the table clash on Saturday.
