| ROYALISTS WIN WITH LATE SHOW |
Windsor & Eton remain top of the Zamaretto League Division 1 South & West following a hard fought 2-1 win away at Cirencester Town.In a match played in horrendous conditions it was the home side that had the good early chances. Rob Dean's close range effort was easily dealt with by Rob Bullivant when the midfielder should have done much better. Bullivant then pulled off two fantastic close range saves to deny Jamie Reid and Scott Griffin. At the other end Victor Osobu was causing the home defence problems and almost set up debutant Gavin Smith but he put the ball wide of the post. With just a couple of minutes left in the half it was Cirencester who took the lead. Mark Pritchett's low cross was spilt by Bullivant and Dean was quickest to react to put the ball in the net. The start of the second half saw Windsor lose the services of top scorer Michael Chennells who limped off with a hamstring injury. Both teams continued to battle with the elements but it would be the visitors that would strike next. Adam Dickens left Reid standing after he jinxed past him and crossed finding Marcus Richardson who headed past Matt Bath to level the scores. It looked as if that would be the final outcome until Matt Seedel popped up in the last few minutes with the winner. Ryan Parsons long free kick was headed down towards Seedel who struck a shot from 20 yards straight into the top corner. |
