Windsor & Eton 2 - 1 Thatcham Town Zamaretto Div 1 South & West | Tuesday 3rd November 2009 |
|
| ROYALISTS ROLL ON |
Windsor & Eton cemented their position at the top of the Zamaretto League Division 1 South & West and continued their unbeaten run in the league with a 2-1 win against Thatcham Town. The first half was a rather un-entertaining affair with neither side creating a chance until Thatcham's Danny Keen shot just wide of the post on the stroke of half time. The second half, however, was a more lively 45 minutes with Windsor almost taking the lead within a minute of the restart. Jake Parsons managed to beat Paul Taplin in the corner and send in a cross that was headed back across the goal by Joe Chandiram and then headed wide by Michael Chennells. The corner which lead to Windsor's opener came in bizarre fashion when a long throw by Rob Bullivant found Chandiram but was dispossessed by Jemel Johnson who played the ball back to keeper Paul Strudley. Strudley totally missed the ball to concede a corner which Jake Parsons took finding Matt Seedel who volleyed past Strudley. The lead was soon extended when Parsons free kick was only cleared to Victor Osobu on the other side of the area and he sent the ball back into the box where Chennells headed past Strudley. Chennells came close to adding a third when he reacted to Seedel's flick but his effort went across goal and just wide of the post. Thatcham made it a tense final ten minutes for their hosts when they pulled a goal back through Matt Bowler who's header was palmed on to the post By Bullivant before going in. |
