| A TALE OF TWO HALVES |
Windsor & Eton picked themselves up after a their midweek Trophy exit beating North Leigh 3-1 at Stag Meadow.A poor start from the Royalists saw Keeper Rob Bullivant called into action early pulling off a great save from Andy Caton’s shot. A mistake by referee Kirkbride saw North Leigh take the lead on 21 minutes when Steve Dell’s clearance came off Caton and Kirkbride awarded a free kick for a backpass. The free kick was quickly taken by Matty Taylor while the Windsor players were still discussing the decision with the referee and turned in by Andy McCabe. The lead should have been doubled a couple of minutes later when Bullivant brought down McCabe but the resulting Taylor penalty was well saved. Bullivant then did well to keep out Caton’s free kick and Andrew Helby’s follow up effort. The second half saw a much improved performance from the Royalists and on 52 minutes pulled themselves level. Dell’s cross flicked off the head of Victor Osobu and looped over Sam Worrall’s head and into the net. Joe Chandiram then hit an effort wide of the post before Windsor took the lead. As Osobu crossed from the right Stuart Hole turned his back and the ball struck his arm earning a penalty. Matt Seedel stepped up and fired the ball into the top corner beating Worrall. A one goal lead was soon turned into two goals when a poor free kick from North Leigh broke nicely for Osobu who played the ball through to Michael Chennells who rounded Worrall before slotting the ball in. Windsor came close to adding a fourth in injury time when Dell noticed Worrall off his line but his attempted 40 yard chip just skimmed the top of the bar. |
