Evesham United 1 - 1 Windsor & Eton The FA Carlsberg Trophy 1st Qualifying Round | Saturday 17th October 2009 |
|
| ROYALISTS DENIED AT THE DEATH |
Windsor & Eton were denied passage to the 2nd qualifying round of this seasons FA Trophy in injury time drawing 1-1 away at Evesham United.Windsor included new signing Victor Osobu in the starting eleven and he along with Jake Parsons and Michael Chennells were soon causing problems for the home defence. Parsons ran through the Evesham midfield and defence before playing the ball to Chennells who's effort was well saved by Nathan Vaughan. Osobu then shot over the bar when Andrew Fagan headed down Scott Thomas's corner. Evesham showed glimpses of causing Windsor trouble and came close when first Daniel Lennon turned Mark Hands cross wide and then Rob Bullivant did well to keep out Richard Ball's effort. Parsons and Osobu continued to pile the pressure on the home defence with the Windsor winger again running through and shooting just wide followed by Osobu going wide after rounding Vaughan. The second half saw an early chance for Evesham when James Cooper who shot just wide from distance. Windsor did a bit better with their first chance of the half when Jake Parsons slipped the ball through to Osobu and burst into the area and shot past Vaughan to give Windsor a deserved lead. As the time ran down it looked as if Windsor would get the win their performance warranted and when Ryan Parsons somehow hooked Lennon's lob off the line it looked just that way. That was until the 5th minute of injury time when Mark Hands free kick was only cleared to the edge of the area where keeper Nathan Vaughan hit a shot that took a huge deflection past Rob Bullivant. |
