| ROYALISTS OUT OF LEAGUE CUP |
Windsor & Eton's involvement in the Red Insure Cup ended at the first hurdle following a 2-1 defeat away at Aylesbury United.David Pearce gave Windsor a second half lead before late strikes from Shiblu Miah and Daddy Moses knocked a spirited Windsor out of the competition. After an early effort from Adam Wallace, who hit the post, Aylesbury could have put the tie way beyond Windsor in the opening 30 minutes. Shiblu Miah was quickest to react when a corner wasn't dealt with and as the ball headed goalwards Aylesbury skipper Abdul Yoki appeared to clear the ball off the line. Ibrahim Kwegyir then hit the bar in front of an open goal closely followed by Miah firing over the bar with only Robert Harding to beat. The second half saw the home side dominate again but it would be Windsor that would come closest first. Adam Dickens shot across the box was well pushed away by Jack Sillitoe just out of reach of Adam Wallace. Leon Simpson then fired over the bar for the home side from 2 yards when he got on the end of Abdul Yoki's free kick. Windsor then managed to get themselves ahead when Dickens slid the ball through to David Pearce who managed to beat the defence for pace and slot past Sillitoe. It looked as if Windsor may have rode out the final minutes until Miah ran through and shot pas Harding to level the scores. Aylesbury made sure of their place in the 1st round when a cross from the left found Daddy Moses who managed to chest the ball down and beat Harding. |
