| FAGAN HEADS ROYALISTS THROUGH |
Andrew Fagan's double salvo has seen Windsor & Eton safely through to the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round after a 2-1 win away at Thamesmead Town.Fagan's two headers either side of half time cancelled our Rikki Cable's early strike for the home side. Despite a positive start Windsor fell behind early on when a poor touch from Jake Parsons allowed Rikki Cable in to round Rob Bullivant and slot the ball into the net. Windsor should have been level just a few minutes later when Bullivant's free kick was flicked on by Marcus Richardson giving Andy Shed an opportunity that was well saved by Steve Northwood. Half chances in the form of long range efforts and corners could have extended Thamesmead's lead but nothing really went close for them. As the half drew to a close Windsor had a good shout for a penalty when Peter Smith pulled back Steve Butler when trying to get on the end of a Steve Dell free kick. As the claims for the penalty subsided Windsor won a throw deep in the Thamesmead half and was thrown long by Dell. The ball was only cleared as far as Jake Parsons who's cross found the head of Fagan and he sent the ball flying into the net. The Second half saw another strong start from Windsor and another Dell throw almost led to the Royalists taking the lead. Dell's throw found Matt Seedel who was able to chest the ball down and shoot only for the ball to be deflected high an wide. Thamesmead came close to taking the lead themselves when Cable made space for himself and shot only to see the ball come back off the upright. The killer goal came just before the hour when Fagan once again rose highest to meet Bruce Wilsons corner and beat Northwood. Thamesmead could have earned a draw in injury time when a ball from the right found the head of Junior Baker who headed just wide of the post. |
